Russian authorities are increasingly revoking the citizenship of religious minorities convicted of extremism, particularly Jehovah's Witnesses and Muslims. At least 12 Jehovah's Witnesses and 2 Muslims have had their citizenship revoked. Council of Churches Baptist communities are also facing bans, and Orthodox priests are being fined and investigated for expressing religious views.
