Allabai Tokimbetov

Allabai Tokimbetov, a Mullah, was detained on July 12, 2022, following mass protests in Nukus, Karakalpakstan. The protests were triggered by proposed constitutional amendments that sought to remove the region's autonomous status. His trial was transferred from Karakalpakstan to Bukhara in 2023. He was initially sentenced to 8.5 years, which was later reduced to 5.5 years on appeal.
