Abdukakhor Davlatov, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), is a journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of the party’s newspaper Najot as well as Director of the Information and Analytical Center Press Panorama. He serves as a member of the IRPT Political Council and its Presidium. In the 2015 parliamentary elections, held on March 1, 2015, Davlatov stood as the IRPT candidate for the lower chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan in constituency No. 30 (Rumi district). Local authorities reportedly obstructed his election campaign. On June 2, 2016, Davlatov, along with 13 other members of the IRPT Supreme Political Council, was found guilty and sentenced to 28 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony following closed proceedings regarding General Nazarzoda’s alleged mutiny.
