Notable newly documented prisoners from Kazakhstan include Erzhan Elshibayev, Kaiyrly Omar, Aron Atabek, and Marat Zhylanbaev. Russia contributed 16 newly documented cases, Belarus 15, and Tajikistan 12. Among the newly documented cases from other countries were Koshkarbay Toremuratov and Akylbek Muratov from Uzbekistan, Tofik Abdulgaziev from Russia, Manuchehr Kholiknazarov and Namunjon Sharipov from Tajikistan, and Soltan Achilova and Saddam Gulamov from Turkmenistan.
All 4 new arrests this week occurred in Russia, involving Viktor Kirman, Kural Seitkhanuly, and Nurgul Ibraeva. Viktor Kirman, a Rostov artist, was arrested on treason charges after three months of what sources described as "carousel arrests," with reports that he spoke of torture.
