Saidabulla Medetov, head of the “Keleshek Uchun” farm, was detained following the July 2022 protests in Nukus, Karakalpakstan. These protests were triggered by proposed constitutional amendments that threatened the region's autonomous status. His trial was transferred from Karakalpakstan to Bukhara in 2023. He was initially sentenced to 7 years, but the sentence was reduced to 4 years in a general regime colony on appeal.
