Olimjon Khaidarov

Khaidarov was widely known as a blogger and “citizen reporter”, active on social media platforms where he posted videos and commentary regarding a variety of social and political issues in Uzbekistan, including market conditions, governance, and public services. His online activities and critical posts were part of his public identity prior to arrest. He was arrested on 29 July 2022 and sentenced to 8 years in prison in December 2023. Legal observers argue the prosecution was linked to his social-media commentary rather than bona fide criminal conduct.
